Medical care for children
Social rehabilitation
Since 2016, the POGA Center has been registered as a provider of social rehabilitation services. At the POGA Center, we work as a unified, multidisciplinary team of specialists with the aim of improving a child's social functioning and quality of life, and facilitating their successful integration into society.
The social service manager is a qualified social worker. A multidisciplinary team is involved in the provision of the social service, comprising a social worker, psychotherapist, physiotherapist, occupational therapist, and other specialists working within the framework of the child rehabilitation program. Social rehabilitation at POGA encompasses a set of measures designed to:
- restore or train movement and motor skills;
- provide education on environmental adaptations and the use of assistive devices to improve mobility and independent living skills;
- foster the acquisition of social skills appropriate for the child's age and individual developmental abilities;
- support and empower the child's parents, and encourage the strengthening of the family support network;
- address various aspects of the child's quality of life and, wherever possible, integrate improvements into the daily lives of the child and the family.
Throughout the service delivery process, we actively foster the involvement of both the child and the parent, ensuring that the service meets the individual needs of the child and the family, while also promoting the skills of making choices and decisions—skills that form the foundation for leading an independent life.
Since 2025, POGA has been striving to make children's dreams come true—whether it’s meeting inspiring people, getting a glimpse of future careers, or simply realizing their aspirations! Rikards dreams of flying and becoming a pilot; although his medical condition prevents him from flying, meeting a real pilot and trying out the simulator at the airBaltic Training Academy was an unforgettable adventure. Toms is passionate about mathematics, and meeting his idol—the creator of the "Ernests Method"—inspired him to pursue that passion further and delve deeper into the world of numbers and arithmetic.
