Social worker

As a social sector specialist, a social worker provides professional support to patients, families, and caregivers to help address various social issues, improve quality of life, and foster independent functioning in society. The goal of social work is to strengthen the patient's resources, reduce social exclusion, and ensure access to necessary services and support systems.

The social worker:

  • assesses the social situation and needs of the patient or family;
  • provides counseling and emotional support;
  • helps develop a plan to resolve issues;
  • provides information on available social services and social assistance;
  • assists in preparing the necessary documents and applying for services or benefits;
  • collaborates with other institutions (educational, healthcare, state, and municipal bodies) to ensure the patient and family receive the necessary support;
  • coordinates the involvement of other specialists and represents the patient's interests when necessary.

The social worker acts like a caring parent, ensuring that the POGA patient and their family receive the support they need!
