Integration measures in POGA for Ukrainian refugee children

Publicēts: 15.05.2025.

Since July 2024, monthly integration events have been organized at POGA for Ukrainian refugee children with special needs.

Ukrainian refugee families face significant challenges in building new lives in foreign countries. If the family has a child with special needs, these challenges become even more complex. Various integration measures not only provide respite and support, but also create a sense of community, helping people feel accepted, understood, and a part of their new society.

Since the summer of 2024, the POGA rehabilitation center has been organizing monthly thematic integration events for children with functional disabilities, which not only delight children, but also develop skills, promote the acquisition of new knowledge, and create positive emotions.

Since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, more than 20 Ukrainian refugee children have been receiving rehabilitation classes at the POGA rehabilitation center every year.

The events are organized as part of a project implemented by the charity organization Ziedot.lv, with financial support from the EEA Grant Program “Bilateral Cooperation Fund 2018–2025” and in cooperation with the Ministry of Finance and the Embassy of the Kingdom of Norway in Latvia.
